Othello Court Docket Searches
Pull out your paperwork first. The caption, citation, or court notice tells you where the case lives. A city-code, traffic, or misdemeanor matter belongs to Othello Municipal Court. Adams District Court in Othello takes county cases. It handles county infractions, misdemeanors, small claims, name changes, and protection petitions. Felonies and major civil cases take a different route. Probate and domestic matters also run through the County Clerk and Odyssey Portal instead.
For current District and Municipal searches, the county points the public to re:Search WA. Enter the number exactly as printed, since you cannot count on one uniform format. Superior cases belong on Odyssey Portal. State reference tools can help you spot a date. But the official record stays with the named court.
- Read the full court name and exact case or citation number.
- Use re:Search WA for the current Othello limited-jurisdiction route.
- Use Odyssey only when the caption identifies Adams County Superior Court.
- Compare any calendar date with the case docket or written notice.
- Call or email the named Othello clerk when the result is missing or unclear.
Three Othello Court Routes
Othello runs on three court paths, not one shared database. Municipal Court sits at City Hall. District Court is a county office out on East Main. Superior Court sometimes holds sessions at the District Court site, though its docket remains a Superior Court record kept by the County Clerk.
| Othello route | Typical matters | Record source |
|---|---|---|
| Municipal Court | City code, municipal traffic, city misdemeanor | City court administrator and current lower-court portal |
| District Court | County infractions, misdemeanors, small claims, name changes | District clerk and current lower-court portal |
| Superior Court session | Selected Superior civil, juvenile, and truancy blocks | County Clerk and Odyssey |
A street address or the word "Othello" will not do the work of the full court name. The case owner decides where the docket, the filed papers, and any certified copy are kept.
Inside the Othello Municipal Court
Othello Municipal Court handles municipal-code violations, traffic matters, and misdemeanor-level city cases. Judge Carolyn J. Benzel presides. Jessica Melo serves as Clerk Administrator. You will find the office at City Hall, 500 E Main Street. The phone is 509-331-2743, and the email is jmelo@othellowa.gov.
Doors are open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday hours run 8 a.m. to noon. Office hours are not a promise that every matter can be handled as a walk-in. Call ahead about record requests. Ask about payment instructions, a missing citation, or the current status of a city case.
The official municipal page lays out the city court's local contact route.

Its City Hall address and clerk contact keep the Municipal Court distinct from the county District Court division nearby.
Othello Court Records Since 2023
The current Municipal Court opened as a separate court on January 1, 2023. A Washington court technology request covers the change. It states that Adams District Court stopped accepting City of Othello filings on that date. The new court received the code OTM for statewide search and reporting.
That date matters when you dig into older records. A city matter filed before the change may still sit in the District Court path. Newer Othello cases use OTM. Two more shifts followed. On May 4, 2026, OTM and both Adams District divisions moved onto Enterprise Justice. The county then named re:Search WA as the public record route effective June 1. If a search comes up empty near either transition, ask which system covers your date range. Do not decide no case exists until you know that.
Search by court and year. Othello city filings changed custodians in 2023, and the lower-court technology changed again in 2026.
Finding Othello Court Dates
Begin with whatever the court mailed you. The written notice or citation carries the date you were given. Othello Municipal Court posts a public CivicEngage calendar. But it lists meetings rather than case-number results. District Court events may also show up on the Adams County calendar. A calendar block is helpful context. A current case docket or clerk confirmation is what controls your actual setting.
| Date | The current date from the case notice, docket, or clerk confirmation. |
|---|---|
| Time | The stated hearing time, which may differ among calendar blocks. |
| Court | Othello Municipal, Adams District Othello, or Adams Superior. |
| Location | City Hall or the county building, with the suite checked on the notice. |
| Setting type | Municipal hearing, infraction, civil, juvenile, truancy, or another published label. |
A continuance or reset can leave an older public event sitting on the calendar. Check the docket for a new setting, and call the clerk whenever two dates clash.
Othello Calendar Filters Have Limits
The Othello public calendar offers List and Month views, a Meetings Only control, Select Calendars, and date navigation. Its menu spans far more than the courts. You can pick Municipal Court. But the same menu also lists council meetings, the hearing examiner, planning commission, parks, the pool, and special events.
The official interface shows just how broad those public-calendar filters run.

Notice what is missing: a case-number field. Treat the calendar as general schedule context, then confirm a specific Othello docket through the city court contact or the current record system.
Note: A Municipal Court calendar selection is not the same as a searchable Register of Actions for a named case.
Othello Traffic Ticket Lookups
Start with the issuing court printed on the ticket. Othello Police matters often land in Municipal Court. A citation heard in Othello can also belong to Adams District Court. When the ticket points to the county court process, the four Adams County infraction choices apply: pay, set up a payment plan, mitigate, or contest. A city ticket may instead carry Municipal Court instructions.
Othello Municipal Court posts no case-search form, docket sample, fee schedule, or online payment link. Skip the public meeting calendar too. For a city citation, call Jessica Melo's office. For a county citation, call Adams District Court at 509-488-3935. The county-wide Adams County traffic court record route covers the lower-court fallback and copy options.
Paying is not the same as fighting the ticket. Read the response language, sign and date your selection, and keep a copy. If you request a court date, check whether the Othello docket lists a mitigation, contest, or show cause hearing.
Othello Citation Court Mismatches
A failed docket search often has a simple cause. "Othello" names the place, not the court. Look at what the paper actually says. It may be Othello Municipal Court, Adams County District Court, or Adams County Superior Court. Court codes help where they appear. OTM marks the Municipal Court, and OTD marks the Othello District division.
Lost the citation? Give the likely court a full name, mailing address, and signature. Add the infraction number if you have it. Ask staff to confirm the right route before mailing a copy request. The Adams District form has checkboxes for Othello and Ritzville. That checkbox does not make an Othello Municipal file a District Court file. City court staff can confirm the municipal copy process.
Calendar addresses add their own trap. District Court sits at 425 E Main, Suite 300. Yet some event pages list Suite 400 as the courtroom. Municipal Court is at 500 E Main. Trust the address and room on your current notice. Verify it with the court that owns the docket. A building next door does not mean its clerk can take your filing. It cannot move the hearing either. Write down which office confirmed the date and when you called.
How Othello Cases Reach the County
Municipal Court handles matters inside city limits. District Court takes limited-jurisdiction county cases, and a District appeal usually moves up to Adams County Superior Court. Felonies and other Superior categories start on the Superior path even when the events happened in Othello.
Docket flow: Othello Municipal Court › Adams County courts › Adams County Superior Court.
Treat this flow as a routing aid. It is not a promise that every matter hits all three steps. The caption and case type tell you which track applies. An appeal from Superior Court goes to the Washington Court of Appeals, Division III. For county-level search details, see the Adams County court docket.
Othello Superior Sessions Differ
Adams County Superior Court sometimes holds sessions at the District Court building in Othello. The posted 2026 schedule uses first-Thursday dates. It has separate blocks for juvenile offender, truancy, and civil matters. Civil times shift during part of the summer. These are Superior Court settings even though the hearing happens in Othello. The official Superior Court caseload report gives countywide category context. That context covers the higher court that occasionally sits in Othello.

That report covers Adams Superior Court as one whole, so there is no separate Othello caseload inside it. Superior records still run through Odyssey and the County Clerk rather than the Municipal Court calendar.
Othello Court and City Clerks
The Municipal Court administrator and the City Clerk do different jobs. Jessica Melo is the Municipal Court contact for Othello cases. Tania Morelos appears on the city public-records page for administrative city records. Sharing a city hall does not make a City Clerk request the route for a Municipal Court case file.
Need a judgment, citation, docket, or other case paper? Go to the court that holds it. City administrative records go through the City Clerk instead. District records belong to the District Court clerk. Superior records go to Katie Sloan's County Clerk office. This division keeps requests from dying in an office that never had the record.
A precise request saves everyone time. Name the court, the case or citation number, and the party. Include the document type and whether you need a certified copy. Do not send a date of birth or driver-license number to a public calendar. Do not tuck it into general correspondence unless the proper clerk form asks for it through an approved channel. Those details can help staff tell files apart, but public docket views redact protected identifiers. Ask about cost and delivery too. The District Court fee schedule may not apply to a Municipal Court item.
Who Can See Othello Court Records
In Washington, anyone can view Othello court records. A statute, court rule, or judge's order can close them. GR 31 controls access. It also gives every visitor free inspection of available records at the courthouse. Copies may carry a fee. Sealing and redaction fall under GR 15, and GR 22 shields sensitive family, protection, and guardianship filings.
Not everything shows up in a public Othello docket search. Juvenile files, sealed cases, and confidential material stay out. Personal identifiers get redacted too. A docket entry can also list an event openly. The attached report may still hide behind a restriction. The Washington Public Records Act covers agency records. A broad city or county request cannot break a court seal, though.
A search that returns nothing does not prove no record exists. An Othello case file may predate the Municipal Court split. It may live in the other local court, sit unentered in a new system, or simply be restricted. Search by exact case number first. Check the court code. Ask the clerk whether courthouse inspection is an option. Staff can explain process and availability. They will not interpret an order, pick a filing, or tell a party what to argue.
Public does not mean unrestricted. Ask the named Othello court what can be inspected and what lawful request or motion applies to a restricted item.
