Adams County Criminal Docket Searches
Start with the court named on the charging paper, notice, or citation. Felony cases belong in Adams County Superior Court, whose public case information appears in Odyssey Portal. Smart Search accepts a party name in Last, First Middle form or the exact case number. Select Adams County and add a filing-date, status, case-type, or judicial-officer filter when a common name returns too many matches. Odyssey limits the result display to the first 200 matches, so a narrow query is more useful than a broad one.
Limited-jurisdiction matters follow a different route. Adams District Court in Othello or Ritzville handles many misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, while Othello Municipal Court owns city misdemeanor cases. The county directs those searches to re:Search WA as of June 1, 2026. Its live fields were not available during the research review, so use only the case number and court details the system actually requests. The Washington Courts Name and Case Search is a statewide reference fallback, not the official file.
- Read the caption or citation and identify Superior, District, or Othello Municipal Court.
- Open Odyssey for Superior Court or the current re:Search WA route for a lower court.
- Search with the exact case number, or use the party name and narrow filters.
- Open Events, Hearings, and Disposition Events to distinguish settings from outcomes.
- Call or visit the correct clerk when the case is missing or a filed document is needed.
Adams Criminal Docket Court Codes
Four codes help route an Adams County criminal docket. S01 identifies Adams County Superior Court. OTD is Adams County District Court–Othello, RID is Adams County District Court–Ritzville, and OTM is Othello Municipal Court. These are court identifiers, not a universal case-number pattern. No official source located in the research published one readable number format for every Adams criminal category, so copying the full number from the case paper is safer than trying to construct it.
S01: felony and other Superior Court criminal matters.
OTD and RID: district misdemeanor and related limited-jurisdiction matters.
OTM: Othello municipal-code and city misdemeanor cases.
The code split became more important when OTD, RID, and OTM moved to Tyler Enterprise Justice on May 4, 2026. Older statewide references can still help identify a case, but the current court and clerk remain the source to confirm it.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
An Adams County criminal court docket is a register of recorded activity. Odyssey divides the record into Case Information, Party, Events, Hearings, and Disposition Events. A public result may name the court, filing date, category, status, party roles, counsel, judicial officer, settings, and final outcome when those fields are available. The docket is not a copy of every paper. Anonymous Odyssey access supplies case information, while document images may require authorized registered access or a request to Katie Sloan, the Adams County Superior Court Clerk.
| Case Number | Use the exact number shown on the notice; no single Adams format was verified. |
|---|---|
| Charge | Offense and classification when the public system exposes them. |
| Hearing Settings | Arraignment, pretrial, motion, trial, sentencing, or probation review dates. |
| Plea or Finding | A plea or finding is one event and should be read in its dated context. |
| Disposition | Later outcome entries may record dismissal, conviction, sentence, deferral, or vacation. |
Adams Felony Events in Odyssey
The official Odyssey Smart Search image shows the entry point used for Adams Superior Court information.
After opening a match, Events or Register of Actions gives the chronological line. Hearings holds settings, and Disposition Events holds outcome-related entries. A charge at filing is not necessarily the last result. Later events can amend, dismiss, defer, resolve, or vacate an earlier entry, so read through the newest dated action before drawing a conclusion.
The official portal guide allows advanced filters for county, case type, status, filing dates, attorney, judicial officer, and party. It also permits an ending wildcard, but Sounds Like cannot be paired with a wildcard. Citation-number search is listed in the general product guide yet marked unavailable for the Washington Odyssey Portal. A District or Municipal citation therefore belongs in the limited-jurisdiction path, not this Superior Court screen.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
A typical Adams County criminal court docket begins when a complaint or information is filed. A summons or warrant may follow. Arraignment addresses the charge, rights, plea, and release conditions. Pretrial settings then record scheduling work, motions, continuances, and negotiations. A case may proceed to a plea or trial, followed by a disposition and, when applicable, sentencing or later probation review. The precise route varies, and a reset means the setting moved. It does not mean the charge vanished.
Adams criminal docket flow: Charge Filed › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
Confirm an imminent hearing through the case’s Hearings view, Find My Court Date, the county calendar, or the court office. Adams local rules generally expect in-person attendance for arraignments, criminal pretrials, trials, evidentiary hearings, and waivers of constitutional rights unless the court grants permission for a remote appearance.
Adams Criminal Docket Caseload
The Washington Courts 2025 Superior report counted 604 criminal cases in the Adams category. Its separate criminal-management table recorded 152 filed cases, 81 resolved active cases, 389 active pending cases, and a pending-to-resolved ratio of 4.8. Those measures describe a reporting period and different units. They do not state how long one named case will take.
The report also lists 302 matters pending over nine months and time-standard percentages under its own labels. Those numbers give local workload context, not a prediction. Check the Adams County criminal docket itself for the latest setting and recorded action in a particular case.
Adams County Criminal Docket Courts
Adams County Superior Court holds felony dockets and related Superior juvenile-offender matters. The County Clerk maintains that register in Ritzville, while Superior Court also holds periodic sessions in Othello. Misdemeanor and gross-misdemeanor dockets usually belong to Adams District Court–Othello, Adams District Court–Ritzville, or Othello Municipal Court. Ritzville municipal matters route through the Ritzville District Court arrangement shown in the state directory.
The split controls both the portal and the custodian. Odyssey covers Adams Superior Court, while the county identifies re:Search WA for its lower courts. When the court is uncertain, Washington Courts Name and Case Search can serve as a reference index. For a definitive answer, call District Court Othello at 509-488-3935, District Court Ritzville at 509-659-1002, Othello Municipal Court at 509-331-2743, or the Superior Court Clerk at 509-659-3257.
The official Ritzville District Court page documents the limited-jurisdiction office and its role.
That court page helps explain why a lower-level Adams County criminal docket should not be searched as though it were a Superior Court felony file.
Adams Criminal Docket Access Channels
Online access is only the first channel. For a Superior case, anonymous Odyssey search gives case information, while the County Clerk can address public inspection and copy requests. The clerk’s counter is at 210 W Broadway Ave, Suite 303, Ritzville, and mail may be sent to P.O. Box 187. For District Court, a requester may use the county’s Court Record Request form by mail, email, fax, or in person. The form supports requests for a court docket, judgment or resolution, certified paper, and recording CD. Phone contact can identify the right division and current hearing.
The statewide Name and Case Search updates as a reference source, and JIS-Link offers paid subscription docket information without filed documents. The state court-code list confirms the Adams court identifiers and migration dates.
If an online result remains blank, check spelling and court level, try the exact number, allow for the 2026 system transition, and ask the custodian whether the public record may be inspected or copied.
The Superior Court in Othello schedule documents local session blocks.
It is useful for location context, but the current case register and newest hearing entry remain the sources to confirm a criminal setting.
The county calendar interface also shows how users choose an Adams court calendar.
Calendar filters can locate a docket block, but they should be checked against the individual case and the responsible clerk.
The sample District Court civil event demonstrates the narrow scope of an event page.
Although that example is civil, its limited fields show why no Adams criminal calendar event should be mistaken for a complete criminal docket.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Washington treats court records as open unless a statute, court rule, or court order restricts them. GR 31 provides the general public-access framework and makes courthouse inspection free. GR 15 governs sealing and redaction, which removes protected material without necessarily hiding the whole file. The Washington Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, governs agency records, but a county administrative request cannot override a court seal.
Key Rules:
Washington GR 31 sets public court-record access and limits online juvenile-offender information.
Washington GR 15 sets standards for sealing and redaction.
RCW 13.50.010 protects juvenile justice and care records from unauthorized disclosure.
A public Adams County criminal docket may omit restricted cases, document images, full financial numbers, Social Security numbers, and driver-license numbers. Police reports, witness statements, presentence reports, criminal-history records, and probation correspondence are not public District or Municipal documents unless filed as evidence, a pleading, or a stipulation. A docket event can show that something occurred without releasing the sensitive paper behind it.
Adams Criminal Docket Versus Reports
An Adams County criminal docket tracks court action. It is not a police report, witness statement, presentence report, or statewide criminal-history record. The Washington access brochure treats those as different materials, and many are not public District or Municipal documents unless they become filed evidence, pleadings, or stipulations. A docket can name a hearing, filing, or sentence without displaying the underlying report.
| Record | What it does | Where to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Court docket | Lists case events, settings, and disposition | Court clerk or case portal |
| Filed court paper | Contains the document behind a public entry | Clerk, subject to access rules |
| Police or history record | Belongs to a different record system | Responsible agency, under its rules |
This distinction prevents a sparse online event list from being read as the entire record. Ask for the precise public court item needed and verify its status with the custodian.
