Name-Based Case Searches
Each court handles name searches its own way. Adams County Superior Court takes part in Odyssey Portal. District Court Othello, District Court Ritzville, and Othello Municipal Court moved to Enterprise Justice in 2026, and the county points limited-jurisdiction record searches to re:Search WA. For a statewide reference index, the Washington Courts Name and Case Search still stands.
- Identify the court from the case caption, citation, or notice before choosing a portal.
- For Superior Court, open Odyssey Smart Search and enter the party as Last, First Middle.
- Use Adams County, file dates, case type, or status filters to narrow a common name. Complete the robot check.
- For District or Municipal Court, use re:Search WA. Exact public fields were not verified during research, so follow the live prompts.
- Open the matching case and compare the court, file date, type, and party role before relying on its Events or Hearings.
On the statewide interface, you can search by court name, case type, party name, business name, or case number. A CAPTCHA box appears as part of the flow.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Court name | Dropdown | Yes in court-specific flow | Choose the actual Adams court |
| Last name | Text | Yes in person/date flow | Use the first-name initial for date search |
| First or middle name | Text | Varies | Helps narrow a common name |
| Case type | Dropdown | In documented name flow | Values depend on court and tab |
| CAPTCHA | Challenge | When shown | Must be completed before results |
Adams Odyssey Smart Search
Odyssey opens its Adams Superior Court case information to anonymous users, free of charge. No registration is needed for the public view. Smart Search takes a case number or a party name. It ignores letter case and allows a trailing asterisk. The official guide asks for at least one character before a first-name wildcard. It wants three for a last name and four for a case number.
A broad query stops at the first 200 results. Tighten it by Adams County location and file-date range. Case type, case status, party, and judicial officer also narrow it. "Sounds Like" helps with a tricky name variation, though it cannot pair with a wildcard. Citation-number search appears in the general product guide. Washington's Odyssey Portal does not offer it.
The official re:Search WA public endpoint shows the current public-search home for limited-jurisdiction records.

That page supports the county-named route into the lower courts. Its live fields and document access change, so rely on what the page itself presents.
Case Number Searches
A case number is the strongest key, provided you copy it exactly. Adams County has no one universal local format. Treat any made-up example as worthless for identifying an Adams case. Enter the number from the notice or caption exactly as printed. Odyssey requires at least four characters for a wildcard case-number search.
Court codes can help route a record. They never replace the full number. The official list ties Superior Court to S01, Othello District to OTD, Ritzville District to RID, and Othello Municipal to OTM. A legacy paper with an old label deserves a quick question to the clerk. Ask which current system holds it.
Try the number itself before falling back to a party name. Keep the punctuation and leading zeros on the first attempt. Strip formatting only if the live instructions say so. A no-result screen can mean the wrong court. It can mean a recent filing, an archived case, or a restricted record. The 2026 system transition is another cause.
Adams Search Stack Compared
Washington's public tools overlap, but their scope and authority differ. Picking the right layer saves time and keeps a reference result from being mistaken for the official file.
| Search Route | Adams Coverage | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Odyssey Portal | Superior Court | Case information, Events, Hearings, and Disposition Events |
| re:Search WA | District and Othello Municipal records under current county direction | Limited-jurisdiction public case search |
| Name and Case Search | Statewide reference index | Find a court or cross-check a name |
| JIS-Link | Paid statewide docket data | Subscription searching, not filed documents |
| Correct clerk | The court's own file | Copies, certification, older records, and confirmation |
The Washington court-code list identifies S01, OTD, RID, and OTM, and records the 2026 migration dates.

Those codes help you pick the correct Adams court. The case number and its custodian still control the official record.
Case Search Results Explained
An Adams County Superior result opens into sections for Case Information, Party, Disposition Events, Events, and Hearings. Events is the chronological register of actions. Remember, a result is an index to activity, not a promise that the public can download each filing.
| Case Number | The clickable identifier for the case; copy it exactly for later searches. |
|---|---|
| File Date | When the case was opened or filed, useful for separating similar names. |
| Court or Location | The court that owns the record and the location used in search filters. |
| Case Type and Status | The category and current system status, which do not replace a reading of later events. |
| Party | Public party names and roles when the rules allow display. |
| Events | The chronological activity, also called the Register of Actions. |
| Hearings | Setting date, type, judicial officer, and courtroom when supplied. |
| Disposition Events | Outcome-related entries; a later disposition should not be confused with the original allegation or claim. |
Need the hearing date that sits behind a docket result? Match the case against the Adams County Court Schedule, which lists what the county has calendared. Remember that a posted event is only one entry, not the whole court record.
Adams Odyssey Hearing Fields
The Odyssey Search Hearings screen starts with a required location. From there you can filter by hearing type. Civil, criminal, family, probate, and mental health matters are all covered. Search criteria include case number, party, business, attorney, bar number, judicial officer, or courtroom. A date range can be added as well. The official Odyssey Search Hearings page displays these filters.
A date-based search can locate a Superior docket block. It works even when the full case number is unknown. Multiple matches come back as a list; a single match may open its register. Before you attend, recheck the individual hearing.
Two Ways to Search: County and State
Not sure which Adams County court holds the case? Start with the statewide index. Pick the tab for municipal or district, Superior, or appellate court, then run a search using an allowed mix of court, case type, party, business name, or case number. Updates land roughly once a day, and the index shows no document images.
Once you know the court, go straight to it. Odyssey serves as the official docketing source for Adams Superior records. For limited-jurisdiction cases, the county now points people to re:Search WA. That public screen works differently from Odyssey, so do not assume its fields, result caps, document prices, or login rules match.
JIS-Link adds one more layer for docket data. It bills $0.145 per transaction, caps person and case result sets at 100, and stops short of filed documents. The official JIS-Link page spells out the subscription terms.

Start with a free, anonymous docket search. Pay for a tool only when its documented coverage fits your need.
Adams Limited-Court Search Change
Three Adams County courts moved to Tyler Enterprise Justice on May 4, 2026. They are Adams District Court Othello, Adams District Court Ritzville, and Othello Municipal Court. Since June 1, 2026, the county's record page points limited-jurisdiction searches to re:Search WA. Older instructions may still name the prior system. Some use legacy court labels. The official rollout timeline lists the Adams courts in its first event. Treat the migration as a reason to build a fallback chain. First confirm the court name. Then run the case number. Use the current portal and call the clerk. A missing entry in one system does not mean the case does not exist. The case may still live elsewhere.
Adams Clerk Search Fallback
When an online Adams County docket search stalls, call the office that actually holds the case. Katie Sloan, Adams County Superior Court Clerk, keeps Superior records at 210 W Broadway Avenue, Suite 303, Ritzville. Reach her at 509-659-3257. Ritzville District Court sits in Suite 305 at 509-659-1002. Othello District Court is at 425 E Main Street, Suite 300, with phone 509-488-3935. Othello Municipal Court uses 509-331-2743.
Some older files live on paper or microfilm. Ask the clerk whether you can view them lawfully at the courthouse. GR 31 allows free inspection, though copies and certification can carry fees. District Court copy requests go through the county's direct form. Superior requests go to the County Clerk. General county NextRequest handles administrative public records, not court records. Do not substitute it for the court route.
Clerks will share public status, walk you through process questions, and point you to forms. They will not run a vague search on your behalf, complete paperwork, interpret documents, or offer legal advice. Bring the case number if you can.
Which Cases Stay Restricted
A blank result does not mean no Adams County case exists. Several categories of court records stay off-limits by rule. Sealed cases are hidden or limited under GR 15. Juvenile records face special limits under GR 31 and chapter 13.50 RCW. Family, protection, and guardianship files carry GR 22 limits. They may restrict identifiers or documents. Mental-health and adoption matters carry their own confidentiality rules.
An anonymous Odyssey user cannot open restricted cases or their document images. Registered access, where authorized and enabled, still is not a key to everything. The clerk can explain the lawful request route. A sealed or confidential item may still require a court order or eligibility under the governing rule.
Public result limits. Search data may omit protected records, redacted identifiers, document images, newly filed events, or material outside the portal's coverage.
Ask the court that maintains the case what can be inspected or requested. Do not try to defeat a lawful access restriction.
Adams Official Search Screens
The Washington Name and Case Search source displays the reference-search disclaimer and search tabs.

That warning separates an index hit from the official record the court holds.
The Odyssey Portal source presents the public Adams Superior Court search screen.

The portal covers Superior case information; District and Municipal matters follow the current lower-court route.
