Find Adams Civil Dockets

Need a civil case record in Adams County? Start at the right desk. Civil dockets here live with the Superior Court or the District Court divisions, and the clerk holding the file depends on which one your case sits in. An Adams County civil court docket search tracks filings, motions, hearing settings, and outcomes in noncriminal matters. One caution: a docket entry is only a line in the record. The complaint, judgment, or other paper behind it may not be on screen. Family, protection, juvenile, and sealed cases carry tighter access rules.

The Adams County calendar search offers calendar filters but is not a full civil register.

Civil Dockets: What They Show

An Adams County civil court docket may display the case number, court, filing date, category, status, party names and roles, available attorney details, judicial officer, chronological events, hearings, and disposition. Odyssey calls the event history Events or Register of Actions. It separates that list from Hearings and Disposition Events. Public case information does not guarantee that the image of a complaint, exhibit, order, or judgment can be opened online.

Case NumberThe exact clerk-assigned identifier; no universal local format was verified.
PartiesPlaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, or other roles as exposed.
FilingsDated entries for complaints, petitions, answers, notices, and orders.
MotionsFiled, pending, heard, or ruled motions shown through event entries.
JudgmentFinal judgment, dismissal, default, or another disposition where public.

Read the dates and later activity together. A filed motion is not proof that the court granted it. A default entry may be followed by a motion, order, writ, or other post-judgment step.

Adams Civil Event Versus File

A calendar listing is not the same as an Adams County civil court docket. The county event pages can show a title, date, start time, street address, court location, courtroom when supplied, and a short description. They do not supply the complete party, filing, motion, order, and judgment history. This distinction matters for the Othello name-change and small-claims event, which identifies the calendar block but does not establish what happened in an individual file.

The official Othello civil event illustrates the limited calendar fields.

Use an event as a lead, then confirm the case in the correct portal or with the District Court clerk. A setting can move, and the newest clerk record controls.

What Cases Fill the Civil Docket

Adams County civil dockets span two court levels. Superior Court contains the county’s major civil category and specialized noncriminal proceedings. District Court contains lower-dollar civil claims and streamlined matters. Selecting the wrong level can produce a blank search even when a public case exists. Start from the caption and the court name, not merely the city where a party lives.

  • Contract, property, tort, and other general civil claims.
  • Small claims and District Court civil matters within the stated limits.
  • Name-change proceedings handled through District Court.
  • Domestic, adoption, parentage, probate, and guardianship in Superior Court.
  • Protection matters, with privacy limits that depend on the filing and court.

The 2025 Superior annual report counted 102 cases in Adams County’s civil category, separate from 178 domestic, 32 probate or guardianship, and 29 adoption or parentage proceedings. These are report categories, not a public party list, and should not be combined as though they were all identical civil suits.

Adams Civil Docket Documents

When a docket entry names the paper but no image appears, request the document from the office that owns the case. The Adams County Superior Court Clerk handles Superior pleadings, orders, and certified copies. District Court publishes a request form for its own records. It asks for the court location, requester contact details, case number, case name, date of birth or driver-license number as clerk search aids, and a specific description. Those sensitive search aids belong on the private request, not in a public docket summary.

The Adams County Court Record Request page explains the current lower-court route.

Requests may be submitted by mail, email, or in person. Describe the complaint, judgment, order, docket, certification, or delivery format needed. The clerk can explain process and availability but cannot give legal advice.

Hearings on the Civil Docket

Odyssey’s Hearings area can show a date, hearing type, judicial officer, courtroom, and search criteria for an Adams County Superior civil matter. Its Search Hearings tool requires a location and supports Civil, Family, Probate, and Mental Health categories. A District Court setting may appear in the county calendar under Othello or Ritzville. Use the event as a clue and verify the current setting with the court.

A continuance or reset moves a setting to a later date. It does not close the case. Scheduling orders, motions, trials, and post-judgment proceedings can all create new settings. Read the newest event rather than relying on an old printed notice. The Adams County court schedule gives the full date-check path, while the case docket supplies the history tied to one matter.

The official Superior jury event shows the type of local time, courtroom, and report detail that a calendar may carry.

Those calendar fields help with attendance, but they do not replace Events or the clerk’s official civil case record.

The county’s contested pro se event provides another view of the local calendar fields.

That infraction example is not a civil case file, but it reinforces the key distinction between a public event listing and a court docket.

Adams Civil Docket Portal Change

Adams District Court–Othello, Adams District Court–Ritzville, and Othello Municipal Court went live on Tyler Enterprise Justice on May 4, 2026. Adams County then identified re:Search WA as its limited-jurisdiction court-record route effective June 1, 2026. The precise live search fields could not be verified during the research pass because the endpoint restricted access. Do not assume its controls match Odyssey.

No result? Check the court name and spelling, retry with the exact case number, consult the statewide reference search, then call or visit the correct District Court clerk.

Older and archived records can also require direct clerk help. Washington Name and Case Search updates its reference data daily and may help locate a court, while JIS-Link is a paid subscription source for docket information without filed papers. Neither replaces the official custodian’s response.

Who Can See Civil Dockets

Washington court records are open unless restricted by statute, court rule, or order. GR 31 governs general access and makes inspection at the courthouse free. GR 15 governs sealing and redaction. GR 22 applies added privacy rules to family, protection, guardianship, and therapeutic records. The Washington Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, applies to agency records but does not unlock a sealed court file.

Key Rules:

Washington GR 31 establishes public inspection and protects listed identifiers.

Washington GR 15 requires the proper judicial basis for sealing or redaction.

Washington GR 22 restricts sensitive family, protection, and guardianship information.

Public results may omit sealed cases, restricted documents, financial-source papers, and protected identifiers. Anonymous Odyssey users cannot open restricted cases or document images. Ask the clerk whether a releasable portion may be inspected, copied, or certified. A missing web result is not proof that no Adams County civil docket exists.

Official tables show why report labels must be kept intact. The 2025 Superior Court annual table lists 102 Adams civil cases. A separate limited-jurisdiction civil page shows 171 Adams filings, 157 total dispositions, 65 defaults, 91 other dispositions, 297 other hearings, and 196 writs. Yet that page’s title says January through June 2026 while its displayed lines say January through March 2026. The period conflict belongs with any use of those figures.
